Full Description

62077 Nos 1 and 2 Green Man Farmhouse are now a pair of houses. Built, in c.1700 the building was originally a public house, with an attached clubhouse, built in 1741, with a large Venetian window. The clubhouse was probably built at the expense of Thomas Chaplin of Blankney Hall for members of the Lincoln Club, a group of local gentlemen. It once contained plaster roundels each with a bust of a club member (Country Life, Sept 15th 1944, page 473). It then served as a farmhouse. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar and render dressings, and pantile roofs. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1}{2} Green Man Farm, Blankney. Partially extant 18th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with multiple regular yards. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. {3}
