Full Description
PRN 62059
During geophysical survey a number of anomalies were identified, evaluation showed these to be a series of pits, ditches and a possible well, which has been interpreted as an extensive Romano-British field system. The presence of what appears to be stock enclosures together with animal remains indicate stock rearing as well as environmental evidence for arable farming. A high status settlement in the vicinity is suggested with the size of the field system this is supported with the types of artefactual evidence recovered. As well as the more commonly found Roman wares, finer wares, glass, brick and tile were recovered suggesting at least one brick built structure with a tiled roof in the vicinity.{1}{2}{3}{4}{5}{6}
