Full Description

62000 The settlement of Tanvats is located about five miles east of Metheringham village, in Metheringham Fen, and may date from around the beginning of the nineteenth century. There is a bridge at Tanvats over Metheringham Delph which was originally a narrow bridge on wooden stilts, which was high enough to allow the passage of crafts underneath it. It was replaced with a suspension bridge, and finally a bridge which blocks the Delph. There were two Methodist Chapels and a school in Tanvats (see 62027, 62028, 62029). {1}{2}{3}{4}
