35483 The Old Black Bull is a former coaching inn, located on the north side of Lobthorpe Lane, close to the A1. It was built c.1731 with late eighteenth century alterations and an extension c.1800, and is constructed of red brick and ashlar quoins and dressings, coursed rubble to the rear with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. Cribb the boxer stayed here the night before the last bare-fisted fight in this country, between Cribb and Molyneaux at the Thistleton Gap. Molyneaux died in 1818 and there were several bare-fisted champions after this date. {2} Black Bull Farmhouse (Black Bull), North Witham. Redeveloped 19th century farmstead. Loose courtyard with four sides of the courtyard formed by working agricultural buildings. The farmhouse was detached from the main working complex. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {3}
