Full Description

PRN 35459 During a watching brief a Romano-British pit was recorded, the function of this pit is unclear but is thought to be perhaps a rubbish pit, ditch terminal or a pit dug for clay. From the fill, 325 pottery sherds (dating from the early/mid 3rd Century) were recovered. Other finds from the pit include, fired clay, possibly from a hearth, animal bones with signs of butchery and envitromental finds. The abundance of the pottery and other finds indicate that a habitation site was, if not here, in close vicinity.{1}{2}
