Full Description
Cropmarks of a probable Bronze Age round barrow. The southernmost of two probable round barrows to the west of Bluestone Heath Road, Donington on Bain. Visible as an incomplete sub-circular enclosure, defined by a single ditch measuring 23m in diameter. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1}
The barrow is visible on more recent aerial photography as cropmarks of a ring ditch with an internal diameter of 28m. The barrow mound is visible as the soilmarks of a compacted surface. The barrow is overlain by Iron Age/Roman settlement activity (see MLI ). {2}
