Full Description

PRN 70233 During a watching brief, a north/south aligned wall, of rubble construction with a mortar bond, was recorded with finds of 18th-19th century tile. Comparison with 19th century maps of this area suggests that the wall belonged to one of the buildings demolished in 1931 to make way for the Slipper Baths.{1}{2} During a further watching brief, more limestone walls were uncovered. These walls ran parallel with walls associated with the Slipper Baths, suggesting that it respected previous building layouts on the site. Post medieval pottery, dated from the 17th - 19th centuries, was also recovered. {3}{4}
