Full Description

35438 A natural spring was used as a spa from at least the early days of the ninteenth century. The waters have a high concentration of calcium carbonate. Spa house was built in 1841 although there was an earlier cottage on the site. The bath-house remained in use until the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939. {1} There is a fine mineral spa in Braceborough parish which supplies a Bathing House built in 1841. {2} The spa is marked as a building on the surveyors' drawings of the Ordnance Survey for the one inch to the mile maps. The drawing is dated 1815 although it would have been surveyed a little before that date. {3}
