Full Description

PRN 35438 During trial trenching, a medieval rubbish pit containing pottery, animal bone and slag was recorded. The slag most likely derives from the ore and slag layers directly beneath the pit (see PRN 35437), hence the early date. The pottery assemblage dates from circa 850 through to circa 1400, giving a probable 12th-13th century date for the pit.{1}{2}
