Full Description

High Mill, High Street is a complex of buildings associated with corn processing, which includes a mill, which is indicated on the 1906 County Series OS map. Some of the associated buildings and the remains of the mill are perhaps extant. {1} The mill is marked on the 1956, 6 inches to the mile, OS map. {2} Hogsthorpe windmill was rebuilt or raised in the nineteenth century. It worked by wind until the 1920s and then continued to work by engine until after the second world war. It was subsequently dismantled and only a roofed single storeyed stump remains, almost hidden by vegetation (1982). It had four patent sails turning clockwise and driving three pairs of stones. {2} The tower of Hogsthorpe Mill was completely derelict and in a state of collapse in 2006. {4}
