44044 The settlement of Hogsthorpe was first documented in the twelfth century. The name means 'Hogg's secondary settlement' and is derived from an Old English personal name and Old Danish 'thorp'. {1}{2} Fragmentary remains, including field boundaries and a trackway are visible on aerial photographs. {3}
