Full Description
A Roman bronze candlestick was found in late 1973, to the east of the railway line at Moorlands Farm. The candlestick was thought to be of 3rd or 4th century date and had two of its original three tripod legs surviving, which were shaped with lions head decorations. Two coins of Constantine II (335-340 AD) were found embedded in the lily-shaped drip pan of the candlestick head. The coins were stamped on the reverse 'Gloria Exercitus' (1 standard). {1}{2}{3}{4}
