Full Description
PRN 13582
During a watching brief, alluvial deposits containing evidence for possible saltmaking activity were recorded, along with two sherds of 13th-14th century pottery. The alluvial deposits contained charcoal, scorched clay and burnt silt, and similar deposits were also found in an early medieval pit of unknown function (see PRN 13583). An undated posthole was sealed beneath the medieval alluvial deposits, suggesting a medieval or earlier date for this feature. {1}{2}
