An area of blackened soil was noted at some time during the 1980s. It is adjacent to the old course of the Witham at Langrick, west of Willow Farm, Ferry Road. Several sherds of Romano-British grey ware, and some Samian were identified. In the past metal detectorists have been on the site, and several coins were discovered and removed, for which no date or type is known. {1}
