Remains of a former ditch of uncertain date, on land at Church End, Wrangle.

Type and Period (1)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

The remains of an east to west aligned, linear ditch was recorded in this location in July 2000, during archaeological monitoring of new development on land at Church End. The feature likely represents the remains of a former drainage ditch, although no dateable material was recovered from its fill, and its exact origins could not be determined. The feature had, however, been recut by a late medieval ditch running along the same east to west alignment, indicating that it must at least pre-date this period. {1}{2}
