Full Description

PRN 61402 During a watching brief, a series of undated features were recorded. A possible north/south aligned linear feature was thought to be a drainage or boundary ditch, possibly associated with the precursor of the modern Mareham Lane. This feature was cut by a pit, which, although undated, post-dates the possible ditch. A further four pits were recorded, as well as two possible stakeholes. The fills of all these features were sterile, so it can be concluded that they were not for refuse disposal and were not garden features. It is possible that they were components of a temporary structure predating the present house and courtyard. {1}{2}
