Full Description
PRN 43897
During a watching brief, a fragment of a mud and stud building, comprising a timber brace and cross frame and three wattles, was exposed in the external face of the western wall of the former cattle shed at Church Farmhouse. The mud fabric was straw-rich and had been repaired with brick and tile fragments. The presence of a rail on the east face of the wall indicates that the fragment was from an internal elevation, and that the building continued to the east. There was no evidence that any other part of the building survived, although the brickwork indicated the possibility that a central post had been replaced with bricks. Three sherds of post-medieval pottery were recovered from the topsoil.{1}{2}
