Full Description

61298 A socketed axe with a loop and with three pellets (from about TF0571). It is on loan at Louth Museum from City and County Museum (accession no.272.07). {1} A late Bronze Age socketed celt said to have been dredged from the river Witham and recorded as from Lincoln by the OS. It is a perfect specimen, has a loop and collar moulding round the head and cast below the head are traces of three, small, equidistant, raised dots. {2}{3}
