Full Description

A watching brief was carried out on land between Slippery Gowt Lane and Marsh Lane. A medieval rubbish pit was revealed. Finds retrieved include substantial portions of a Stamford ware vessel and other pottery dating to the twelfth century, and which may indicate nearby settlement. {1}{2} Medieval pottery has previously been recovered from the area and from Baptist Farm, located 100m to the south west (B22.003), which possibly represents a manuring scatter. {3}
