Full Description
Post medieval smithing slag was found during an evaluation in Kirton. The 1906 OS map records a smithy just beyond the south-east corner of the evaluated site, although the recovered slag is earlier than 1906. It is suggested that the iron slag found during the evaluation relates to nearby metal processing activity, possibly on the same site as the smithy recorded in 1906. {1}{2}
