PRN 43802 During trial trenching at land adjacent to High Street remains were encountered which suggest the presence of iron smithing in the vicinity. The remains take the form of hearth bottoms, slag and vitrified brick. Hammerscale was also observed. {1}{2} A watching brief at TF4981 5886 recovered pieces of ironworking (smithing) slag.{3}{4}
