Full Description

Woodhouse farmhouse is an early eighteenth century red brick building with a pantile ridge roof and brick coped gables with kneelers and stacks. It has a first floor brick band and decorated eaves cornice. It is double fronted, with a central doorway with a wooden pilaster surround and a flat hood, and a twentieth century glazed door. It has two windows and three windows above, all with segmental brick arches and twentieth century windows. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building or buildings please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} It is a 'neat mansion', and in 1856 it was located within another extra-parochial estate of 100 acres, with six inhabitants. {2} Woodhouse Farm (Eagle Woodhouse), Eagle and Swinethorpe. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with multiple regular yards. The farmhouse is attached to a range of working buildings. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Located within a loose farmstead cluster. Large modern sheds are located to the side of the site. {3}
