PRN 70182 ROMAN (AND MEDIEVAL) POTTERY WAS RECOVERED FROM THE LOWER LEVELS OF TWO TRIAL PITS DUG DURING A WATCHING BRIEF AT THE HALIFAX BUILDING SOCIETY. {1}{2} A watching brief was undertaken at SK 97584 71039 and a Roman ditch and two refuse pits were recorded. Pottery dating from mid 2nd century too early 3rd century was recovered from the ditch. A mid to late 4th century sherd was recovered from one of the pits. The pottery contains a large range of greyware and suggests that the occupation area here was of a relatively high status. {3}{4}
