Full Description

The remains of Roman walls and part of a hypocaust system were revealed in the 1920's, during the construction of the Boots building at the angle of Clasketgate and High Street. The fragment of hypocaust measured 15ft long by 4-5ft wide, and part was retained in the cellar of the new building. It was thought that the remains may have belonged to a public or private bath suite. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}
