THE BEST PRESERVED PORTION OF THE ROMAN FOSSE ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE ROMAN CITY. FILLED IN BY CONTRACTOR TO THE CITY COUNCIL, WHO ARE BUILDING A MUSEUM ADJACENT TO THE SITE. {1} THE ABOVE DESCRIPTION STATES THAT THE MONUMENT WAS FILLED IN PRIOR TO THE BUILDING OF THE USHER GALLERY, BUT THERE IS STILL A DEEP DEPRESSION ON THE SITE. WHETHER THIS BEARS ANY RELATIONSHIP TO THE ORIGINAL PORTION OF THE FOSSE IS UNKNOWN. {2}
