Full Description

During a watching brief on watermains replacement in the Bailgate area a series of roughly squared limestone blocks and slabs, forming three 'steps' rising to the north were found. Some possible bonding was seen. Its full extent was not revealed, and dating was not possible. They may be the result of accidental dumping, or they may be part of the remains of an earlier structure demolished to make way for the road. {1}
