Full Description

Danker Wood is thought to be an area of probable ancient woodland. A wood bank separating the woodland from the adjacent fields to the north-west was noted in July 1997, during a site visit conducted to investigate hedgerows prior to their proposed partial removal. The wood bank took the form of a double hedge, each on its own slight bank, either side of a central ditch. The boundary and woodland are thought to have been extant since at least the Parliamentary Enclosure of this area in the late 18th century, and may have much earlier origins, although their exact date of creation is not known. {1}
