Stone packhorse bridge spanning the beck to the south of Northbeck hamlet. This bridge is particularly difficult to date and there have been suggestions of construction as early as c.1250 and as late as the 17th and 18th centuries. It is generally thought to be medieval in date though, with a 15th century origin thought most likely. Originally sited next to an open ford across the beck, the bridge is now by-passed by a modern bridge, constructed at some point around 1980. The packhorse bridge is built of limestone ashlar blocks, and is a small, double-span construction measuring roughly 8m long by nearly 3m wide, curving slightly westward at its northern end. It was restored at some point in the mid 20th century, with concrete supports added to the central pier. There are no parapets, and the cobbled bridge surface is of pitched limestone rubble, with some patching of modern concrete. This surface extends over the banks at each end of the bridge, stopping quite soon at the northern end, but thought to extend for about 40m to the south. A large, modern stone kerb and iron bollard protects the bridge at its northern end. At the south end there is just a grass verge, and it is unclear how far the previously mentioned cobbled surface extends under the grass. {13}
