Full Description

An early 20th century water tower formerly stood in this location to the north-west of Scopwick. Construction of a new water supply for Scopwick started in 1913, with the erection of a pumping station to the west of the village, close to where the beck rises. Water was pumped from the station to the water tower located here, where it was then distributed to the village. The tower was 90ft high, and was constructed of reinforced concrete. Pumping stopped in 1967, following the connection of the village to improved water supplies from Ashby de la Launde. The tower was demolished following the hard winter of 1972. {1}{2}{3}
