Full Description

PRN 60499 ONE SMALL PIT TRUNCATED BY AN IRON AGE DITCH WAS OBSERVED DURING A WATCHING BRIEF TO THE NORTH OF WESTCLIFFE ROAD. IT CONTAINED LATE NEOLITHIC/EARLY BRONZE AGE BEAKER POTTERY. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE POTTERY AND HENCE THE PIT MAY BE ASSOCIATED WITH BURIAL PRACTICE. THERE IS A SLIGHT POSSIBILITY THAT THE FEATURES MAY BE PART OF A FLAT CREMATION CEMETERY, BUT THIS INTERPRETATION IS EXTREMELY TENUOUS. {1}{2}
