Full Description

PRN 60410 In the south wall of the chancel outside, several fragments of late 10th century interlace carving, re-used probably a shaft. {1}{2}{3}{4} Originally described as being part of a cross shaft, the stones have been reinterpreted as being part of a late Anglo-Saxon grave cover. Three fragments of Oolitic limestone, exhibiting cable-moulded borders and carved interlace. The stones are probably from a single grave-cover dating to the mid 10th to the early 11th century. Later reset into the chancel wall, which was probably built in the early 13th century. {5}
