Full Description

In a green lane leading from Dunston Pillar to Mere (Branston Lane) is a stone measuring about 19" x 34" x 7". It is decorated with a Maltese Cross and other carving on the front. The stone had reportedly been broken off just above ground level by 1964, when it was found to be lying face up. It was believed by Davies to be a boundary stone of the Knights Templar, although it does also lie at the boundary of three civil parishes. {1}{2}{3}
