Full Description

PRN 60384 A fragment of a decorated Saxon cross shaft, formerly from Aunsby churchyard (PRN 65019), is now used as a garden ornament. It was found in a delivery of building rubble to the farm. {1} This cross is actually of early-mid 12th century date, with decoration in the mainstream Romanesque style. It may originally have been a grave-marker, subsequently re-used during later medieval building work at the church. {2}
