Full Description

PRN 60362 A scatter of Romano-British pottery and building material was found on land east of Crowland Farm in 1964.{1} Systematic fieldwalking on land east of Crowland Farm, South Rauceby produce a significant amount of Romano-British pottery sherds. The pottery scatter appeared to be concentrated in the field immediately east of the farm buildings. Pottery types included grey ware, colour coat ware, Samian and amphorae. Romano-British tile and quern fragments were also recorded.{2} Further fieldwalking was carried out in 2002, when very few surface finds were recovered. Metal detecting was carried out alongside the fieldwalking and several metal finds including a very complete brooch and two coins, one a forgery of a Claudian Dupondius, were discovered. {3}
