Full Description

PRN 60356 The site of a possible Roman villa or farmstead was revealed during drainage trenching. Second century pottery was found under a paved floor: above it, and covered by a burnt layer, was a quantity of fourth century pottery, a skeleton and traces of metal. Three sherds of Iron Age pottery were also seen in the trench upcast. {1}{2}{4} The trenching area was indicated by the farmer, in 1965, confirming the location. Sherds of greyware were seen. {2}
