Full Description

Cropmarks of a probable post-medieval farmstead, to the north of Ashby Lodge, Ashby de la Launde. The site is comprised of a rectangular feature measuring roughly 30m by 12m, with cropmarks of four surrounding larger enclosures. Initially thought to be the remains of a possible medieval moted site, the smaller rectangular feature was later interpreted as the stone foundation walls for a farmstead building, with the surrounding enclosures thought to be former fields or yards. A visit conducted to the site in 1977 showed the site had recently been extensively ploughed, and no trace of any early farm buidlings could be seen on the ground at that time. {1}{2}{3}{4}
