Full Description

PRN 60002 The moated site south of West Street at the west end of the village may be the site of one of the documented medieval manors in Swaton. {1} This moated site is unlikely to represent the main medieval estate in Swaton held by the earls of Lincoln and later by Barlings Abbey. It is situated at the extreme west end of the village and its angular appearance suggests a it is not medieval in its present form. The identity of this site remains uncertain. {2} An aged local person can recall a house standing on the island but there in now no surface evidence of this (May 1965).{4}
