ELONGATED MOUND OF KING'S HILL BARROW. REPUTED TO BE THE BURIAL PLACE OF KING AETHELRED OF MERCIA c.716 AD. MAY BE A SAXON TUMULUS AS LITTLE EVIDENCE OF PREHISTORIC SETTLEMENT EXISTS. EXCAVATION IN 1912 FOUND MOUND TO BE MUCH DISTURBED AND FOUR PIECES OF HUMAN SKULL SAID TO HAVE BEEN FOUND IN IT. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}{6}{7} IT HAS ALSO BEEN SUGGESTED AS BEING THE RABBIT WARREN BELONGING TO BARDNEY ABBEY (SEE PRN 50477). {8}{9}, AREA 0.1H, LENGTH 25M, WIDTH 13M, HEIGHT 2.5M, HTM 10M
