Full Description

PRN 54202 An old packhorse bridge which has three arches and is twenty metres long by one and a half metres wide. It was built about 1310, probably by Bishop Walderby. {1} The bridge was repointed and repaired in 1840. It was built of Lincolnshire limestone and consists of three arches with a cobbled roadway and a parapet which is now slightly eroded. The masonry is well preserved and in good condition. The south end has been repaired but the north end has a ragged finish. It stands adjacent to the modern road and is apparently used as a footpath. {2} There is some descrepancy on the actual date of the bridge, as Pevsner dates it as 15th century. {7} A packhorse bridge dating from the 15th century with 20th century alterations.
