A very fine cropmark site showing the regular crofts of a deserted medieval village site aligned along a central street. More than one phase of development is visible. According to St Joseph the site is said to be connected with Orford nunnery. Small circular enclosures with causeways may be earlier monuments on the site - as may be the row of small square enclosures. {1} There is nothing visible on the surface although extensive but subdued earthworks to the south of the scheduled area are impressive and should be scheduled. {2} These cropmarks have also been interpreted as probable Roman settlement and prehistoric enclosures (see PRNs 51818 and 55336). {5}{6} This latter interpretation is more likely to be correct even though the site is scheduled as medieval. {8}
