Full Description

AN AREA OF ABOUT 100 METRES DIAMETER CONTAINED SOME PIECES OF ROMAN POTTERY AND SOME ROMAN METALWORK. THERE WERE THREE FOURTH CENTURY COINS AND ONE SECOND CENTURY COIN AND IT WAS REPORTED THAT A FURTHER ELEVEN COINS WERE FOUND. IN ADDITION THERE WAS A PLATE BROOCH OF ABOUT THE LATE FIRST CENTURY AND THE LID OR BASE OF A SEAL BOX. THE FARMER SAID THAT POTTERY HAS BEEN NOTICED DURING PLOUGHING AT THIS POINT IN THE PAST. {1} ALSO REPORTED FROM THIS LOCATION WERE TWO CONCENTRATIONS OF 18 C3 - C4 COINS AT TF 06157590 AND TF 06247582. A POSSIBLE BELT FITTING WAS ALSO FOUND. {2} ALSO FOUND ON THIS SITE IN SEPTEMBER 1997 WERE A POSSIBLE LEAD HAMMER HEAD AND A CONICAL WEIGHT. {2}
