PRN 53908 AN ARCHAEOLOGICAL EVALUATION IN THE REAR GARDEN OF THE FORMER BRITISH LEGION CLUB, BANK LANE, IDENTIFIED A LATE SAXON DEPOSIT, A METALLED SURFACE AND A STRATIFIED COLLECTION OF TENTH CENTURY POTTERY SHERDS WITH A WHETSTONE AND PART OF A QUERN. THERE WAS ALSO EVIDENCE FOR THE ACCUMULATION OF A REDDISH SOIL AT SOME TIME BETWEEN THE FOURTH AND THE TENTH CENTURIES BUT THIS NEED NOT NECESSARILY INDICATE A LOW DEGREE OF HUMAN ACTIVITY DURING THIS PERIOD IN THIS AREA. {1}{2}
