Full Description

The settlement of Cote Houses is shown as a cluster of several old enclosures on the Enclosure Surveyor's map of 1821, each containing a house. This pattern is created by the incidence of sandy mounds standing up from the low-lying terrain upon which the properties are situated. The settlement is first clearly referred to in 16th and 17th century wills, and presumably had some specialist function. {1}{2}
