Full Description

A DISUSED WINDMILL IS INDICATED ON 1:10560 OS MAP. {1} Laughterton. Post mill with roundhouse; dated 1787, ceased work by wing late 1930's. by engine 1950. Demolished 1951 when some parts were taken to Heapham Mill for preseration. In 1978 the lower part of the roundhouse walling remained. {2} A post mill built in 1786 which was still working in 1923, but had been demolished by 1951. It had an associated roundhouse measuring 21 feet in diameter by twelve feet three inches in height. The land on which Laughterton Mill was originally built on was sold and the new owner refused to buy the mill. It was therefore moved and re-erected on a mound a quarter of a mile away. {3}
