Full Description
METAL DETECTING HAS RESULTED IN THE RECOVERY OF FRAGMENTS OF ANGLO-SAXON METALWORK; 17 CRUCIFORM BROOCHES, 4 SMALL LONG BROOCHES AND A SLEEVE CLASP. A BURNT CRUCIFORM BROOCH AND A PAIR OF FUNERARY TWEEZERS POINT OT A SMALL CREMATION ELEMENT ON THE SITE. ALL OF THE MATERIAL APPEARS TO BE OF LATE C5 OR C6 DATE. ALSO RECOVERED WERE; 'SCEAT', SERIES E C.710-20; 'SCEAT', SERIES R, C.720-35; AETHELRED II, SECOND REIGN 'STYCA' 844-8; NORTHUMBRIAN BASE 'STYCA' C.845-65. {1}
