Full Description

The settlement of Fenton lies almost on the south parish boundary. It does not appear in the Domesday Book, but from the 12th century on it is normally documented and not adversely affected by population fluctuations until spurts in the early 19th and 20th centuries. There was never a parish church but a parochial chapel was present there before 1297. There are no surviving earthworks apart from ridge and furrow outlining the settlement closes to the east and north. {1}
