Full Description

Lea Station is in very bad condition with its two platforms demolished. The station house, the steps to the platform and the bricked embankment wall. The entrance to the station is a path from road level, alongside the station house up to the steps, which lead down to the rail level. The bridge over the railway is brick built and about 40 feet in length. It has one rectangular arch carrying a road. It has four signs: 1) Red diamond with white lettering. GN and GE Joint Railway sign signifying weight limits for road traffic crossing the bridge. 2) Blue rectangle with white lettering GN and GE sign. It is for weight limits and is signed Kings Cross 1896. 3) Blue rectangle with white lettering. GN and GE signifying trespassers will be prosecuted. 4) Blue rectangle with white lettering. LNER Rly Co. Signifies that the footpath is no public right of way. Two of the signs are duplicated. They are situated near the bridge. {1}
