Full Description

THE WIND PUMP AT CLAY FARM WAS BUILT IN 1930, AND IS 32 FT HIGH AND THE SAILS ARE 11 FT IN DIAMETER. ITS PURPOSE WAS TO SUPPLY A FARM, NOW DERELICT, WITH WATER BUT IT HAS BEEN OUT OF USE SINCE 1955. ALL THE MACHINERY IS INTACT THOUGH NOT IN VERY GOOD WORKING ORDER. ITS PRIMARY MOTIVE POWER IS WIND BUT IT CAN BE APAPTED AND DRIVEN BY A TRACTOR, IT IS ON COLONEL SANDERS ESTATE AND WAS MADE BY WAKES AND ALMB OF NEWARK. THE ROTATING TOP IS RUSTY AS IS THE REST OF THE MACHINERY BUT IF THE WIND IS IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION THE MACHINERY MOVES SLUGGISHLY. {1}
