Full Description
Cropmarks of a potential prehistoric enclosure, to the south of Grasby. Visible as a circular feature, defined by a single ditch measuring 15m in diameter. Short stretches of probable boundary ditches appear to overlie the enclosure, though their exact relationship to the feature is unclear. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1}
The cropmarks are visible on more recent aerial photography, taken by Historic England in 2015, with the circular feature now thought to be the probable remains of a Bronze Age round barrow. The overlying boundary ditches were also visible, and are thought to relate to later Iron Age or Roman activity (see MLI127859). {2}
