Full Description

A MONASTIC GRANGE KNOWN AS ALDEFIELD WAS BASED ON PART OF THE FOUNDATION ENDOWMENT OF BULLINGTON PRIORY AND HELD UNTIL THE DISSOLUTION. IT CONTINUED AS A RESIDENCE AT LEAST THROUGH THE SEVENTEENTH CENTURY. THIS SITE HAS BEEN EQUATED WITH FALDINGWORTH GRANGE (TF042842), BUT THIS FARM LIES SOME 300M OUTSIDE THE NEAREST BOUNDARY OF THE OLD ENCLOSURES OF OLD FIELD OF 1795, AND DID NOT EXIST AT ENCLOSURE. {1}
